Attorney (Lawyer) Information

Attorneys (lawyers) practice law in two ways. They provide advice to clients about their legal rights, to assist them in prevention of legal problems arising. Attorneys provide legal advice and services to their clients who have encountered legal difficulties. Legal research forms a large part of a lawyer's work. They examine legal precedents, they interview witnesses and those involved in the legal situations of their clients. Some of the attorney's work involves the preparation of legal documents and preparation of briefs. Private practices employ the majority of lawyers, however, some lawyers are employes directly by government departments and large corporations. Whilst some lawyers provide specialized services in specific areas of the law, many are employed in more general legal practices, offering day to day, domestic services such as contract preparation and will writing. A considerable number of attorneys provide legal services to the more needy members of society in assisted law programs. A minority of lawyers practice their legal skills as court judges or as teachers.
